Hell's Canyon

We took the 4 day weekend and went to Hell's Canyon with Scott and Theresa. It's on the border with Idaho, where the Snake River flows through the deepest canyon in the U.S. As luck would have it we got lost the first day (hidden blessing). Then got a late start on a day that was well over 100 degrees, no shelter from the sun, waist high poison ivy, one creek for water and 8 miles straight downhill. Pulled 17 ticks off the dog and another half dozen off us. And that was just the first day and a half!

Lost the trail, but at least we get to hike through fields of wild flowers.

Finally giving up to head back we name this area "Antler Point" - now all we have to do is call the Forest Service and tell them to mark the map :)

The next morning we got up at 4:30 to get a jump start on the heat - behind me is the ridge we crossed last night.
